2009 Award Categories and Photo Contest Rules
The Contest and Awards Committee is seeking nominations for the awards listed below which are to be presented at the 2009 Annual Meeting by the North Dakota Chapter. For your convenience a
nomination form is included.
All entries must be submitted (postmarked) to the Contest and Awards Committee no later than July.

Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award is given to an individual who is an active member (an active member must be a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators) in good standing of the North Dakota Chapter, who has shown outstanding service effort and direction to the purposes and objectives of the Association.
Fire Investigator of the Year Award
The Fire Investigator of the Year Award is given to an individual who is an active member (an active member must be a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators) in good standing of the North Dakota Chapter, who has shown outstanding achievement through the use of professional expertise in both the criminal and civil fields of arson control.
There may be one Fire Investigator of the Year award presented each year.
Prosecutor of the Year Award
The Prosecutor of the Year Award is given to an individual who has the shown outstanding achievement through the use of professional expertise, in criminal and/or civil fields of arson control. There may be one Prosecutor of the Year award presented each year.
Life Membership Award
The Life Membership Award is presented to an active member (an active member must be a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators) in good standing of the North
Dakota Chapter for a period of ten (10) years, who has rendered distinctive service to the chapter and its purposes for a minimum of five (5) years. One of these awards may be presented each year.
Amusing Award
The Amusing Award is a fun award to give to someone who may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time or did something that is just too funny not to share. Any humorous,
amusing, silly or accidental event worth recognizing in front of everyone will be considered for this award. Awards in this category are only limited by your imagination.
Photographic Contest
This contest is open to North Dakota Chapter members in good standing and is separated into
four categories:
(A) Incendiary Fire Photography
(B) Accidental Fire Photography
(C) Fire Ground Photography (working fires)
(D) Fire Service Photography (includes training)
»First, second and third place awards will be presented in each category, depending on the number of entries received.
Photographs will be judged on content, technique and composition and may be published in the North Dakota Chapter Newsletter.
Photographic Contest Rules:
1. All entries must be submitted (postmarked) to the Contest and Awards Committee no later than July 1st.
2. All photographs entered must be the work of the person entering and must have been taken within the preceding 24 months.
3. A maximum of five (5) photographs may be submitted by any one entrant in each category.
4. Photographs are to be 8 x 10 or larger for consideration, and may be 35 mm or digital, color or black and white.
5. No identification or marks of any kind are to be placed on the front of the photograph. Photographs are not to be mounted to any material.
6. A designation of the appropriate entry category and brief description of the subject of the photographs must accompany each photograph submitted.
7. A CD with the photographs that are being entered in JPG format at the same resolution as when they were taken must be included with the hardcopies.
The following information must be placed on the back of each photograph:
Name
Mailing address
Telephone Number
Department or Employer Name
Date Photograph was taken
Location of photo scene
Number sequence on back of photograph corresponding to the photograph
synopsis as described in Rules 5 and 6 above
All entries become the property of the North Dakota Chapter I.A.A.I
Any entry not complying with these rules will be disqualified.
